downton abbey fans

i need another show to keep up with like a hole in the head {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} but they showed the entire season 2 yesterday and i was hooked from episode one!!!! i could not move until i had seen them all and now i can't wait for the new season to start!

question though - was laura linney in previous epi's of the show and is gone now??? or is she just the "announcer" at the end to let you know what will happen on the next epi??
