Re: do you plan for power outage?

I have two generators. It helps but nothing like having power!

Re: do you plan for power outage?

No. Fortunately it rarely happens here and if it does, it's very short-lived.

During one severe summer storm years ago, we lost power for three or four hours and it was very hot outside. I went to the mall for awhile!

Re: do you plan for power outage?

We buy food items that can be eaten without electricity. During the last power outage the thing I ate the most was Bumble Bee prepackaged tuna salad with crackers. They also make chicken salad with crackers.

In addition to that we keep Sterno and a Sterno stove handy for cooking. We also have something similar called "canned heat" that can be used for heat or cooking. I also have some candle lanterns that can be used for light and cooking.

We also have battery operated lanterns for light. We also have tins of "50-hour" candles. In addition, I use light sticks at night. They last for about 12 hours. I put them in various rooms like a night light - no batteries needed and there are no fire worries from candles.

We also have battery operated radios and hand-crank radios.

It's always in the back of our minds. When you can lose power in summer as well as winter, you bet we do!!
