current wedding ettiquette

Not a complaint, just a bemused observation of how the world has changed. My nephew and his sweetie has been engaged for 7 months. They are in education and insurance. First family and friend were directed via email to go to their web page about the wedding for photos of country club, updates on progress such as buying the dress, parties, etc. Now we have received save the date cards mailed USPS telling us formal invitations to follow for this July wedding. It was announced last summer so no surprise. I'm just grinning at how things have changed. Wonder if thank yous will be cards or mass emails.
