I haven't worn this , oh maybe 7 times but it looks like new---I only know of one consignment shop in my area and it's a rip off IMO. Some time ago I checked with them about what clothing they would take and was told it had to be practically new and worn no more than five times total. Well, I had some gently used clothes but couldn't guarantee it was worn 5 times or less. So, now I donate to a thrift shop in the town I live in. I haven't been to the consignment shop since and don't intend to go.
Sylvia, I walked out before she presented that paper! LOL. I had several gently used cleaned clothing items in my car but after discussion decided I was not interested in this particular consignment shop's policies. It was their loss, not mine.

If you do want to use a consignment store, check with friends in your area if they shop at one and if the people are honest.
this is what my brother does! he is a clothes horse - every single closet in his home is filled and most of it still has the tags on it because he doesn't get around to wearing it! he had close to 100 pair of jeans a couple years ago when he started. he has my mom take it to his favorite store and he picks up a check.

The last one, can't find some items and was told people walk off with them or they break. The ones I can't find are to big to walk off with or break. Can't do anything about them. They will be out of business by this time next year.
Some of my tags were not on the item I did find and some on someone else's items.
Same here. Or IF it sold, they say it was put on clearance and so here is your $2.00 for that designer handbag. I donate all my stuff to a Women's Shelter.

They have one of those here but it is for teens and young adults. Plato's Closet. Apparently you can even open a franchise of this chain. Who'd have thunk? My daughter "dragged" me in there once . . . I didn't like it . . . just too too too much stuff, especially racks and racks of jeans & tops . . . I didn't care for it but the 16-20 something crowd seems to think it is a great bargain . . . to which I say GREAT . . . especially IF it teaches them bargain hunting . . . all the brands the kids like and pay way too much for retail . . . although I prefer the department store clearance sales . . .
I've never taken them items but according to their website . . . the buyer reviews your items and gives you a "check" or cash ??? and after so many sales or purchases . . . they give you a coupon for 20% off your next purchase.

I'm not quite as bad as your brother but yea I love buying new clothes . . .
I've always donated to Purple Heart, Goodwill, Salvation Army and Downtown Rescue Mission . . . but now that we've paid off the house . . . no longer tax deductible with the charity donation . . . but I will still donate . . . although right now I have about 10 long & short formal dresses listed on eBay . . . still have the tags on them . . . IF they don't sell after a couple of tries THEN I'll donate but figured at least I should try since Homecoming and Party season is coming up . . . as some are ones I bought my daughter that she never wore so I've quit buying clothes for her unless I have intention to return them right away IF she doesn't like or they don't fit.

I used one once where I took my clothes to them, they priced them and the pay-off was the same as what was posted already. However, I was allowed to take in everything I had at once. There was too much to price while I was there so she sent me the sheet of everything I brought and what she priced it at and I knew immediately, this wasn't going to work. She had some of the items priced higher than I paid for them originally. Out of the over $1,000.00 value of clothing, I got a check for under $10.00. She isn't going to tell me nothing other than a few things sold. The rest was supposedly donated to charity.
There is another place near me that pays you on the spot for the items you bring in. However, what you get is next to nothing so I won't bother with that again either. I'd rather just donate the stuff to a women's shelter than bother hauling it somewhere for pennies on the dollar.
This place that pays you immediately advertises as if everything is higher-end name brand items but as I perused the shop looking for items while I was waiting for them, there were a lot of Sonoma and other Kohl's exclusive labels along with a lot of home shopping labels like Susan Graver.

Mine where household items, the clothes I took to a thrift shop. This week, I pick up what I can find, and take to the thrift shop. This is a nice church going women that owns this consignment shop in town, but is definitely not honest. I hope she goes to confession once a week.

When I took my stuff in to the place that paid me on the spot, I was told the rule of thumb is take 30% of the original price and you get 30% of that. So for instance, if you bring in a $350.00 coat, you get $31.50 for it.
I have a couple of new with tag Kate Spade handbags and I figured I'd try my luck on e-bay first (which I haven't done) and then I'll donate them before I let them take them for under $40.00.
