I haven't heard any here yet but as kids we loved looking for the cicada shells left on trees. It was like we found a treasure!

Yes, we have them, and they've been here approximately 11 days. They were much worse the last visit!!! My dog thinks the shells are a treat!

Only seen a couple so far. You don't hear them, so the infestation (so far) is not there. Somone else also mentioned they were out & about earlier. I'll just wat a few more weeks. I forgot what the name of the brood is. Supposed to be more in the southeast. But sometimes their appearance is a bust in some areas.

Yikes! We don't have them out here but I've only heard about them on tv and movies and such.
Is it like a whole season thing or do they disperse and everything gets back to normal quickly? I would be unhappy to have anything make the birdies go away.

None here in southern WV, yet. When my girls were young, they were so disgusted seeing their dog eat the locusts. I gave them a container and paid them a penny for every locust they caught, saying that was one less locust hanging around for the dog to eat! It kept the girls outside and busy every day, turned into a math lesson, earned them extra money, and kept the dog from the nasty bugs. Win win situation!

Where l live (southern NY) we get them every August. Hearing the deafening buzz is a sign that summer is waning. I'm surprised you have them this early in the season. Then again, the weather has been playing tricks on a lot of areas this spring...

.No!
Sometimes there's a lot of grasshoppers in parking lots. (seasonal)
