Ear Tipping is a good way for feral rescuers to spot a neutered/spayed cat from a distance but I have trapped 3 cats in the past 2 years that were tattooed instead. Two cats we have had ear 'tips' that were probably frostbitten or from a fight but neither were neutered. Most responsible folks that trap ferals will keep the cat in safety for at least 24 hours, females are often kept 48-72 hours before they are released. The cats are fed, cared for with meds if needed and they are all vaccinated before they are released to wherever they were found or to a farm (as the case may be).

The neighbor that had the possums killed was foolish, they are sweet animals that devour ticks and fleas, they should be welcomed by anyone that has domestic animals. I welcome them to our yard and include them in our nightly feeding station. They are not aggressive and are opportunistic feeders, meaning they often eat carrion and found food.
