That is the basis for using the tinfoil, which works but is hard to "attach"..... I honestly don't mind if the birds eat SOME of my tomatoes... but save a couple for me!My sister has said all along, she thinks it is squirrels that eat HER tomatoes, maybe that is the case with mine too...
I don't even want to THINK of what some people would do to squirrels to repel them.....
It was deer who ate mine; I watched them having their picnic. I don't plant tomatoes anymore,

Maybe some type of fine netting over the tomatoes? What do the tomato growers do? Just curious.

I'm not a fan of this kinda stuff...........I figure it this way........they have to live with our mess.......we pollute the water, the air, even the ground, that's their home..........if they have to live with our mess, we can live with what little mess they leave......................................raven

Because this thread has left me feeling sad, I decided to post a happy photo of some of the sweet pretty little birds at our feeder this morning. Photo credit to my SweetieBear dh.

Yeah, we do think it's pretty cool too. We never know when they are going to show up. Sometimes there are only 2. There were actually 5 this morning but could only catch 4 at the feeder at one time.
Sometimes we go months without seeing them at all. But when they arrive, they join right in with the doves, finches, sparrows, javas and cardinals. They are not shy, or at least not with the other birds. They don't come to us any better than our favorite cardinal however.

we had a wild flock show up just once here, maybe 7 years ago......I figure they were escapees from some back yard breeder.....but they heard my love birds and I'm sure hearing them and the fact I have feeders in the back yard brought them.......I would LOVE to have love birds in the yard eating from the feeders........they are so cool and so pretty.......not real friendly BUT pretty.............................raven

we have wild Love Birds here too, MrsSweetie.
I saw two of them on the ledge outside my office window last year. I googled them and found there are lots of colonies of wild Love Birds here. Apparently they do really well here.
