Hope you stay safe Sylvia. I remember living there and some of those wind storms.... 80+MPH starts to get scary. We get them out here in KS too, I live in a house that is over 100 years old and we have a canopy of old, big trees. I hate the wind storms because it never fails to break branches and we end up with a bunch of lumber in our yard. So far *knock wood* we have been lucky and not had a huge branch come thru our roof.

Our home is across from a big river that runs thru a park, lined on both sides by trees that are easily 150-200 years old. Some fall into the river when their roots can no longer hold on, some are too close to the river bank as it recedes. We had one fall last summer and it left a hole in the ground that was easily an 8 ft diameter, they had to fence it off until they could cut up the tree, remove it and fill the hole. A tree fell not to long ago, crossed a power line and cut off power to all of us for several hours until they could get out and get it fixed. We have been pretty lucky so far this winter, even with the freezing temps and ice on the power lines. I totally feel for the people that have power outages for days, it is not a fun experience.

I know the area... it's so gorgeous there. You'll survive, spring comes soon... even though I know we have had snow there in May and even June once when I was little. Crazy state
LOL!
