best before

I got a tub of quince paste from PCC (Christmas gift from my beloved, who knows I like quince). It's in a plastic tub, with a clear plastic seal. It says "no additives or preservatives".

It has a best before date of 06/28/2016.

If I open and eat it on June 29th 2016, will I be poisoned?

(and what the heck is in there, keeping it that long, if it's not preservatives??)
