Hope, to my knowledge has never been accused of drugging and assaulting women. He should not be anywhere near a conversation about Crosby's crimes imho.

I am very close to a woman who was raped by a stranger (no, not me or any of my daughters). He pretended to be a cop and she stopped on a dark road late at night. It happened. He was caught, the gun he used was fake, and she testified as did other women, and he went to jail. But all she ever said was "I am so happy to be alive." She never let it ruin her life.

Brave, brave woman.

Perhaps. But this one was under the threat of a gun. All she ever said was that while it was happening, she was looking out of the back window of his car and saw the sky and the moon, and the fields beyond and thinking that this was going to be her last experience on earth. When he let her go, he again threatened her with the gun and told her not to move until his car was out of sight. She obeyed everything he said, she did not fight. After all, she had no idea the gun was fake.

You are talking about an era when the sins were covered up by the movie studios ..... think about it ..... good looking men with huge egos, making large sums of money and finding they can get away with just about anything.

A LOT of this was common knowledge to people in the industry, but who talks bad openly about powerful men?

Years later, writers come along, interviewing many people, researching stories and rumors and documenting stories by the people who were there ..... and then the public acts shocked and thinks it must all be fabricated because they've never heard the rumors before. (the writers don't pay for the information, so there's no money to be made there.)

A lot of the men were cheaters, nasty drunks, you name it .... etc etc.

The Cosby and Hope shenanigans have been around for ages ...... another who was commonly known to be a really nasty man was Bing Crosby ..... but they all had PR people to make them look good.

Honestly, I don't know why people are so incredulous when the truth comes out.

There are just some things in life I do not want to know. Bob Hope has been dead a while, let him be. Geesh!
