I've had 2 experiences with mice.
Janitor at work mopped my office with PineSol. He said a mouse can smell where another mouse had been and it is a welcome to them. Never had another one!
When you use peanut butter or cheese on a spring trap...only put enough for them to 'smell' the food.
They can eat it and not trip the trap!!! Just rub it on to get the smell on the trap!

I use nothing but Viktor Electronic traps (get them from Amazon).
Put a small amount of peanut butter inside; the mouse goes in to get it and is zapped in seconds. A green light flashes to tell you there's a dead mouse inside. You just open the compartment, dump the mouse in the trash and reset the trap.
A humane kill. I don't like to kill anything, but I draw the line at mice in my garage or house. I usually get a few in the first month or so of winter and then nothing until the next winter.
These traps work.
And for those suggesting a cat??? I would never let my cats catch and kill mice, exposing them to any number of bacterias and parasites! ![]()

Yes. Cats can get tapeworms from eating mice. The fleas. Horrible for the poor cat. Years ago, we had an outdoor cat that took up. Noticed the tell/ Tail signs. Took him to vet for a shot. Never forgot what happened next. 🤢

I also live in apartment, electronic mouse repellent is
working. I bought it on A, it is out of stock now. But
there are many alternatives.
Just plug it in and it greatly reduces activity.

One winter mice chewed up the wires in my husband's garaged car. Evidently they go under the hood when its cold for warmth. Who knew????? The mechanic advised us that mice hate the sent of dryer sheets like bounce etc and to place a few under the hood. Never had that problem again. Perhaps place a few in areas of vulnerabilityn like under kitchen sink etc. Can't hurt in addition to the other measures taken. Good luck!!

Not a mouse...but...somehow 2 little squirrels got in the house (probably us bring in groceries)...My DS was visiting..I let out a blood curdling scream..One of them jumped into the toilet guess from my screams and drowned..DS caught the other one in a box and took it out into the woods..When we had cats years ago.. they would sit and watch a mouse run by...Since I live in the "woods" we get a mouse once in awhile.

We had a mouse in our basement once in Ohio. I hated the thought of killing it. We put down one of thse traps with sticky paper. I worked. He got stuck on the paper, but was still alive.
I tried to free it from the paper, but I am pretty sure he died anyway. I was upset the whole day about that.

@pugvette74 wrote:@newjersey mice HATE mothballs. They will leave your home very quickly. I know mothballs aren't the best smell, but it works.
Sounds like the most humane treatment too 👍
