a home for cats

My son has two cats which he must find a home for. He has called several animal shelters and they all told him that they were full. Also they said that cats are very hard to find homes for but not dogs. He also looked on, I think he said, ebay. He said there were thousands of people trying to, I guess, sell their cats.

I never thought it was so hard to find a home for a cat. I know there are alot of animal lovers but how does he go about finding someone to love his 2 cats? any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
