Mosquitos are most active at dusk and dawn. But that is not to say that they only bite at those times. I've been bitten during the day. Bats and dragonflies eat mosquitos. We should not destroy their habitats.

From a retired teacher I know, the Zika virus has been around for years.  If the moms can get into the USA, then the taxpayer will foot the bill to support the child for the many years it lives.  I would think the UN would have demanded the countries with this on going disease to do something before it got out of hand.  But then, that would make sense.

Yes...I understand that the foreign moms coming into this country to give birth here, will have their babies here, who will need a high level of care.  But I'm more concerned with our own citizens who might be infected with this virus that is brought in by infected travelers from other countries.  They come here with this virus...get bites from mosquitoes here...who then bite people living here, who are staying away from the countries where  the virus is known to be...

It seems they are mostly poor people getting the virus, I can't see them pulling up roots and hoping a plane for here.  No travel money, nowhere to stay without funds.  Doesn't make sense.

Yet of the 31 confirmed cases in 11 states all are US residents that traveled to other countries.  Guess it is time to ban all travel outside the U.S. and shut the borders to everyone seeking to enter.

Sadly, with regard to foreign travel,  if I were pregnant I'd be afraid NOT to stay home.  It's such a scary thing to think one trip to the wrong place can lead to such dire consequences.

If anyone is interested in which countries are having outbreaks, I posted a link to the report with MAPS from Marketwatch.

But there have no doubt, been many women who traveled to the affected areas, early in their pregnancies, before the threat was made public?  Too late for them ,now.  I hope all of them have healthy babies
