@CalminHeart  How wonderful! I can't wait for our first snow! It's magical! It creates a clean, silent blanket over everything, and then it brings out all of the neighbors helping each other with their driveways and sidewalks. After that comes the homemade desserts and hot chocolate and maybe an adult beverage or two Smiley Wink

Those who say they "love" snow.  Sure, the first snowfall is pretty.  But if you have several feet of it in a winter, it gets old pretty fast.  Chicago has been very lucky the past few winters.  Hope it continues because if I never see another flake of snow again, it will be too soon!!!

you are SO correct!  Yes, the first one is pretty - quiet - beautiful.  Fine if you don't have to drive in it, possibly fall down (now that I'm not 30 any more) and pay for snow removal.

Winter would be OK with me if it were about 8 weeks total.  When it starts getting gloomy in October and you can't walk outside until April, yeah.....you can have it.

Can you tell I'm sad summer is over?????

We had our first snow overnight.  It is early enough that it'll melt  but I still don't like it.  The farmer's almanac puts us on the edge between tons of snow and normal snow this winter.

Envy.  Love snow and love to shovel.  Last year no snow at all. Strange. I love the seasons and while two of my daughter live in warmer climates.. and I love them I will not ever move near them.  No snow.

And the reason I'll never move near my son is that he lives in Chicago.  Great city, but Chicago winters? No way. I have Gulf breezes in my soul.

@CalminHeart    I love the snow?   What state do you live in.  I am in Illinois and last year was a very mild winter for us.  Send some snow our way!

I live in N. Wisconsin about four hours  from the Canadian Border. We had an inch which melted. Some Christmases are white and some are not. After the Holidays it gets old.   When  in midApril we get 6 to 8 inches several times I get frustrated waiting  for Spring.

Last year wasn't bad for cold and snow. I like to walk outside every day but the ice and - 20+ below is worse.  Wind chill added ! I am retired so can relax about getting out or driving on bad roads. I have a neighbor who has a plow business plows the driveway. I shovel my own deck and sidewalk. Sometimes shoveling is needed one day and turn around next day more snow.

Many of our area  schools, have a combination of on line and in classroom time won't need time off for Snow Days. Some  years if too many they have to make days up.

My GF has cooked in Texas this summer  in the 100s alot of days  but She has flowers in February . I laughed  at my in cousin in S. CA. bought a shovel a few years ago when it snowed.

Sure, a nice soft idyllic snowfall is beautiful! And then there's the snow, sleet and ice that makes our commutes and even our walks out to our mailboxes a nightmare! I pray for a winter with normal snowfall and no ice that shuts down our electricity.
