What is your biggest waste of money, biggest "what was I thinking?", biggest "can't even donate this thing" purchase from QVC? Mine is easy. The set of 3 Genie bras on my 60 year old, 42D, bod!{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

Re: Your Biggest QVC Mistake?

I bought a sun tanning pillow one time that was made of shaped styrofoam covered with yellow terry cloth. It was shaped like some kind of bird. It was bizarre looking and totalky useless. I think I ultimately threw it away.

Speaking of bras, I recently bought the inserts for modesty to wear with sweaters and they moved around until I just couldn't use them. Of course I had already thrown the box away and couldn't return them. They had a lot of good reviews they just weren't for me. Perhaps I could cover them with fleece and make ear muffs out of them or elbow pads. LOL

Re: Your Biggest QVC Mistake?

The only one I can really think of is this roll out garden thing I bought years ago. It was this big roll of whatever it was that you could cut up and plant in various places, or just roll it out and plant one big, long thing.

Anyway, the idea was that it was supposed to grow a bunch of flowers. Well, all it grew was weeds. Of course, by the time I knew this, it was too late to return it. They really get ya with stuff like that.

Re: Your Biggest QVC Mistake?

chickenbutt,

I bought one of those too and never saw one flower. My SIL bought one and it did very well for her, of course she could make a rock grow. LOL I wish had some pictures of her yard and gardens to post she reminds me on a smaller scale of Carolyn Gracie's yard. Also I wanted to tell you I love your nickname, that SIl's youngest son when he was little had the smallest little butt and we all called him chickenbutt till he was 40!

Aww, I love your chickenbutt story! Thank You. The best thing about my ID is that it makes people smile. Priceless! Smiley Happy

Well, I guess you and I just don't have the green thumb. Well, I KNOW I don't. I totally don't do yard work and I fancied this a good idea for something I could actually do, instead of paying somebody else to do it. I was wrong.

For the record your 'namesake' is a good kid (man now) and he smiles all the time, he has a great sense of humor he's a good husband and father.

My kids use to say I could kill artificial flowers so years ago I set out to prove them wrong. I had a zillion flowers planted all over the front yard. I had them around the trees and that pink stuff 'thrift' all the way down the sidewalk and flowers in flowerbeds and around the mailbox and pots on the porch etc. but all the attention they required nearly killed me while raising 5 kids. The greatest thing was one day one of their friends ( a guy that is now in his late 40's ) saw me at a funeral home and told me he use to come by here on his way home everyday just to see the front yard because his mom never planted flowers. Now sadly I do very little except on the deck for my own pleasure. I now have a landscaper that lives across the street and since they moved in their yard is fabulous and I am seriously thinking of hiring him this year to do something with my front yard again. If I can afford him!

Re: Your Biggest QVC Mistake?

The worst thing I ever bought from QVC was a key chain with a little mosquito repeller on it. It was suppose to keep them away by sonic waves or something. The key chain was joke, made of pot metal chain, with links barely held together. One broke when I went to place the little battery in it. This was maybe 20 years ago. I was shocked. Because up until then everything I bought from QVC was stellar, and good quality. I remember it came stapled to a piece of cardboard, and a link came undone when I pulled it off the board. I think I was so traumatized by this piece of qwap, I actually remember the cost after all these years, LOL! 12.99 for 2!! It was a TSV. It cost me 4 dollars to return, but I felt so cheated, hahah!

Honestly, these could have been purchased at the dollar store, that bad!

We bought the instant flower garden strip too, but for us the laughs were worth the cost of the product. We always wondered if the seeds came from Mars, because they looked nothing like anything we could find in any horticultural encyclopedia.

Re: Your Biggest QVC Mistake?

A silver bracelet w/a lion's head clasp. It needs someone else to put it on. It is really pretty but I can only wear when DH is home to help me put it on. I saw there was a bangle very similar to it on Silver Day but I had only paid around $38.00 for the old one and the new was $68.00.We have tried many things to make it work. Big problem w/magnetic clasps they make the brace too large and it falls off of my wrist.
