Re: You are being sued by the IRS.

dooBdoo - can't say what will happen when I'm old and feeble and my reasoning skills lessen, but I'm one of the most cynical people you will ever meet and I can think or more than one time that's served me well. I pay all my utilities online and they all send me an email telling me I can view/pay the bill, along with a link to their website.

Cynic in me still refuses to click on the hyperlink - I get out of my email and call up the website on my own and check over the bill and pay from there. Cynical is my middle name.

I challenged one of those guys once. I told him he was nothing but a scam artist and I wasn't that dumb. He called me a ""MF"" and hung up on me.

I love it when people give these scammers a hard time. I raise my glass to all of you! I have yet to get one of these calls, but I am ready if and when I do.

I'm the same way, Financialgrl. I know what you mean about even questioning those emails that arrive immediately after an online payment -- these days I give the stink-eyeWink to just about everything in the mail, or on the phone, or even the unexpected knock at the door. It's too bad we can't be more trusting, but in today's world it's part of life I suppose.

Do you remember the credit card commercial and "Peggy"? That was one of my favorites. When the guy was giving me his line I just kept saying "Is this Peggy?" and "Peggy, is that you ?"

"No this is not Peggy"

"I want to talk to Peggy".

Finally after a minute of this he started to play along. It was rather fun for us both.

Re: You are being sued by the IRS.

I google the number. Once I see that it's a scam, I block it. Simple fix...

Hi, Topaz Gem! The problem with talking to the con artists: they usually use computerized robo-calling scrolling through random numbers in numeric sequence.

So, at first they don't know your name or number, or if the number is even an active one. Once you answer, however, it marks the number as a "live" one and goes on a list to be re-used, shared, sometimes even sold.

In the class at our hospitals about cyber security, they say that making the caller angry probably assures you'll have a place on even more unsavory call lists. But, of course, that's everyone's choice if they don't mind getting more calls.Smile

Re: You are being sued by the IRS.

You don't make the angry, give it back to them as they are trying to give it to you- I told one lady she'd called a funeral home and interrupted a funeral.. I'm sorry but I am sick and tired of these calls- they who call will get it back in one form or another but never make them angry... keep talking in circles, they'll get the picture..

I'll add my usual comment about Nomorobo -- it's a free, safe, effective service to protect your phone number(s) from annoying, unwanted calls. Not available everywhere, with every provider, but it's growing:
