I was born in 1948.   Did anyone have a bread man come around?  We did, and. A pastry can, and of course we had milk delivered to door. He used to walk in and put milk and dairy away. With his starch white uniform, and stiff white hat!!! Used to be able send a WESTERN UNION by telephone. Just call operator, as for Western union and send.  Then there was Jewel T and a few others.  I remember in the 1960's ordering from Alden's, Speigal, sears and Fingerhut!!
there was a time when I was a kid, I remember my mom calling operator to place long distance to sister in So Cal,...we lived in NorCal, lol.  Then operator woukd call back when call,went through. Then they would talk Loud!  As if they had to scream because they were talking so far away.  Lol

 @Cakers3  Welcome!🥰 Awww! I can certainly understand that! When cleaning out my dear mother's storage room, the movers unwittingly, or perhaps wittingly took all of the records; 33's and 45's and the RECORD PLAYER she had! My heart broke when I realized this.💔

@SandySparkles @We have my MIL portable phonograph.  We have tons of old 40's, 50's and 60's EP, LP and such.  lol, some of the bands,  has anyone heard of SPIKE LEE AND HIS FIREHOUSE FIVE???  Well alert the news, we got him!

Also.. collected Green Stamps and pasted them in the book. I remember redeeming them for a new birdcage for our parakeet!

@shoekitty Welcome!🥰 You are indeed blessed! I had no idea how much these irreplaceable items meant to me until the unfortunate, heartwrenching loss of them!🫤 I would have handled them personally instead!!❤️

I have never heard of Spike Lee's band and thought he only wrote and directed films/movies😊 THANK you SO much for sharing that surprising bit of information!🤗
