Ice does not care how much experience you have.

If you don't know how to drive in the snow - stay home or at work. My former boss who was from Houston would often stay the night in her office so she didn't have to drive home and then back in the snow. This is just normal common sense. Don't know how to drive in the snow - take a bus .You sound so stupid. You do realize not everyone has the luxury of staying home or even being on a bus line don't you? I know how to drive in the snow and even I had to turn around!! It is a sheet of ice, not snow. Many people were driving home when it started and got stuck then.
Irshgrl, consider the source.... how does she say that "for cripes sake"? LOL. When I was working my last job, it was about a 30 mile drive one way north. I could leave in the morning and it would start snowing after lunch and by the time I could leave work, I had no choice but to attempt the drive home. Many times, I was doing not more than 20 mph and it took hours. There were no buses that I could take from the city I worked in to the city I lived in.
As far as ice, heck, no one has any control when driving on ice.
As I said before, consider the source.

You know it's snowpocalypse when all the local schools close early in the evening and don't even wait until morning to see how much snow we actually have on the ground.

When you have a woods behind you and lots of snow but no animal prints anywhere....not even in the backyard. When all the animals are hunkered down for days....you know it's cold!

I wish I could post a video to what is going on outside my window right now.
The snow is coming down so fast!
Phila NW burbs checking in. We already have about 8 inches since late last night, and we are set to keep snowing here through tomorrow. On top of the foot we already have on the ground.
My kitten loves the flakes thru the sliding doors--she chases them for hours at a time.

And you aren't driving up and down steep mountainsides or crossing several bridges every time you go out either.
Happy your assumptions are not based in reality. Watch the Blizzard episode of Raging Planet sometime if you don't believe me. I've been driving in snow for several decades, pockets of extreme weather can appear out of 'nowhere' quite frequently.
