There’s a disco tune played in the background. The actors have big smiles on their faces. These are usually the ads for diabetes medications. There are also the ads for biologicals for autoimmune conditions such as RA, psoriatic arthritis, Crohns and colitis. These actors are depicted as happy-go-lucky. They can get back to their lives again. Never mind the shocking list of devastating side effects the ads just breeze through. Make sure you don’t have an infection. You might get  TB. Some lymphomas have occurred. You might be unable to fight infections as your immune system is

compromised. No worry, just dance around. Spend thousands a month and risk lymphoma.

Then there are the ads in which very sick people are playing with a child. These ads are usually for cancer medications.  I’m assuming that the child is supposed to be their grandchild; as if all of the happiness in their lives revolves only around grandparenting. The narrators in these ads use a somber tone of voice. There’s no dancing.

Life is great. Take our drugs. Dance. We here at big pharma are here to help. There’s little risk, and just to protect ourselves, “Ask your doctor about it.”

@Mindy D @Ketra

I'm been reading articles and seeing news reports, and what's even sadder is that these advertised drugs are usually the most expensive, and there are other drugs that treat the same condition and cost less, and some have less side effects too, but some patients are now demanding they want the advertised drug, so people are trusting Madison Avenue Advertising Agencies and their 2 minute commercial rather than their doctor's advice for their health....Woman Frustrated   The U.S. and New Zealand are the only 2 countries in the world that allow these TV pharmaucuetical ads......

There's a TV ad for Cover Girl that I have to wonder about.  It shows an older woman, white short hair and a very white face with visible wrinkles.  During the ad, She says something like "She's heard people say there's an age to give up (presumably taking care of one's appearance), but she doesn't know what age that is. "  Looks like she gave up a long time ago.  Her coat is very attractive though!

BTW, the commercial states she's 70;  I think she looks 90 on a bad day.

@this is my nic

90 on a bad day???  Who are you kidding?  We should all look that good when we're 90!

Tell me why it is you think she gave up a long time ago.  Please.  I really need you to walk back through your insults and come up with a cogent answer here.

Re: You Know That Commercial with the Middle Aged Woman Boxing

In my book, the absolute worst commercial of 2018, by way of being insulting to women of all ages, sexist, pornographic and designed to make men literally drool and purchase this product:

Doritos

A partial shot of a Doritos package, with a Doritos chip positioned slightly to the lower right of a model's croch - close-up.  The model is wearing a bright coral bikini bottom.

Yup, the Dorito chip lady croch commercial.  The commercial was finally pulled.

However, I will never purchase this product.  Never.  Disgusting.

and dancing along the street while she watches her shadow in the wall?

I just hate that commercial.

I think they think she is supposed to be someone to admire or emulate but to me she just looks like someone trying so hard to be cute and cool and with it and ends up looking ridiculous and obnoxious, not someone you'd want to know.

Some of these commercials-you just wonder who thinks them up and how can they think they look good.

Then she laughs with her mouth wide open. Who does that?

Then there are these awful medical ones with the same woman with the overly awful southern accent who moves her head up and down while talking and also smiles with her mouth wide open. And since she has all these different diseases on different commercials, you know she has none of them.

The one who says
"Ah cin live againn!"

Okay, I feel better. Sorry this has to be the most snark, just had to vent about these.

I hope neither is on these forums!

Oh and the Liberty Mutual guy with the calves that look like well you have to see it.

So gross-how does that help sell insurance?

Tell me which ones you hate.

Ok, I'm starting to annoy myself lol!

@on the bay, I hate that commercial too, she looks so stupid, and her husband just laughing at her, my husband would be calling the men in the white coats, LOL!

I haven't seen the one with the woman boxing but I know she is in a lot of commercials. I hate all insurance commercials especially progressive and geico....and the interminable pharmaecutical ads.... not everyone over 40 is diabetic, has cancer, ED, or constipation. Have you noticed they are starting to recycle commercials and are showing some we haven't seen in years, like the hump day camel one and the caveman at the airport?
I can't hit the mute button fast enough!

The prize for the most disgusting, though, has to go to the Cricket cellphone adds..."that's not right" where they stick their fingers in bowls of food and suck the food off....and others equally has sickening. I would never do business with that company.

The OP should have asked if there is a commercial I like....would have been a short answer!

I don't like any of the prescription drug commercials, they annoy me to no end. Especially when the theme is a song that I love from my teenage years.  I don't want to hear a KC and the Sunshine Band song in a commercial about arthritis. Ugh.

One commercial I loved to watch was the NFL 100 years commercial. Being a Steelers fan for as long as I can remember, I loved seeing Terry Bradshaw, Joe Greene and Franco Harris.  Loved that whole commercial (except for Tom Brady) and have watched it on You Tube several times.  I don't remember doing that with any other commercials.
