Woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't seem to fall back to sleep, so put the tv on. Scrolling through the channels, I came across Q2 with David and a vendor selling 3 pounds of smoked sausage for $59.96. That's $20 a pound for smoked sausage!
I believe you can buy smoked sausage in just about any grocery store and Walmart under brand names like Hillshire Farm, Johnsonville, etc. for a fraction of that price. Here in NJ a pound of Hillshire Farm smoked sausage sells for $6.79.

I think all their food is overpriced and certainly not in my budget, but if you can afford it, that's their decision to make.

We got some precooked bacon (smoked) by mistake last week. Threw it out today, I don't like that smoked bacon.

I'm always surprised when I see these posts about food prices. From what I've gleaned over the years, their food has always had somewhat ridiculous pricing. But it must meet the needs of some customers, since that pricing never seems to stop people from buying.

The sausage presented is MILES above supermarket smoked sausage. It is butcher store quality. Texture is way different. If youve ever had the kielbasa and smoked sausage the way it used to be made, you know what im talking about.i wish I could afford it.
I still find $20 a pound to be out of line, especially for my budget, but i understand it to a point ( it includes shipping too). It is so different than Hillshire etc.
I regularly buy supermarket kielbasa and smoked sausage but even $6.79 is too much and only get it when its in sale BOGO..i stock up on it ss it keeps so easily. Still its not the sausage i grew up on.

I have a sausage shop near me that makes and sells every type of sausage that you can dream of. They make everything from scratch in house and even smoke it with real wood smoke. They sell fresh unsmoked sausage too.
Their sausage sells for between $8 and $11 a pound.
QVC is expensive, but you are paying middleman prices, priority fast shipping, packaging...cooler and ice and handling charges.
Perishable food has a lot of loss due to weather and shipping. When they have to replace food that didn't arrive in time to be safe to eat, you're paying for that too.
If you can buy local, you can save money....not everyone can do that.

I buy 2 different types of sausage, one for jambalya and one for sausage, peppers & onions. I only buy when it's on sale, a BOGO. I can get get 2 packages of Hillshire for $5 and two packages of Johnsonville for a little under $6.

Those supermarket brands of sausage are no better than hot dogs IMO. I have a local fruit/veg market that has a cold cut counter which also sells a kielbasa-like smoked sausage for $5.99/lb. It is better than the Hillshire Farms and I get it as a treat on rare occasions.
