Thank you all who gave me such good advice a few weeks ago. I found an apartment that will cut my commute in half (thank you God!) and did not require jumping through a million hoops. It's on the third floor of a three family house in a safe area. I may even get a bike--last one was stolen since my neighborhood wasn't exactly the best. My only hesitation is that everything is electric which is more expensive than gas. At least heat rises!

Congrats.  Have a ball decorating your new space.  Anything that cuts down on drive time with today's gas prices is an absolute winner!!!!!!!!!

Good going. If it is on the small side, the electricity shouldn't be too bad, unless you have a really cold spell.

I visualize your new home to be like Rhoda's third-floor apartment on the Mary Tyler Moore show, except her place was depicted as being very small.

@JBKO

How wonderful! It sounds great. I love your attitude. Wishing you happiness in your new home. Being on the third floor of a family home sounds cozy--and safe.
