If the weather is very hot, it's a nice touch to have a cooler with small bottles of water. It's a small price to pay to keep your customers happy, and hopefully sticking around a little longer. Keep a bin of some kind for the empties so you can recycle.

I don't like to bend down to look at stuff, so I really appreciate itemsthat are on tables. I've been to garage sales where many items were in cartons on the ground. Nope, not for me. I'm not going to kill my back to save a quarter!

Have fun with it, and good luck!

Love these ideas! There's a yard sale I would enjoy, especially if the prices are also clearly marked. Here fresh baked goods are often incorporated in the sale, too. But these are usually group efforts. Don't know if the OP would want to bother with all that.

Good luck and fair weather!

Most of the communities where we live in Fl don't allow them , unfortunately. I enjoy browsing them and usually will find one or two things to buy. When we are here in Pa for the summer our campsite has a large one and just today we stopped at one because I could see they had a large table of books.

On the other hand - I hate and abhor HAVING a garage sale. Days of work just to make a small amount of money. When we were packing to move DH insisted he was going to participate in our community wide garage sale to make some cash off all his junk. WELL - he worked for about 3 days and in the end he wasn't getting anyone who wanted to pay more than a quarter for anything. We had a huge box of extra hangers so I wrapped them up and tied them with ribbon in 10 packs. i put a sign up that said free 10 pack of hangers with any purchase. That brought in a bunch of traffic and we dumped most of the hangers. In the end , though, all that work he did and he only made $50 - half of that for one item , my old sewing machine with all it's attachments. When i was still working I figured I was way better off financially if I donated my junk for the tax writeoff - then worked an extra day for time and a half. Much better bottom line.

In reference to another thread...........Don't forget to put out a 'free' box of odds and ends, also greeting/birthday/etc. cards, too. Even if they are 'used', lots of folks use them for post cards, DIY's, crafts, etc. Some folks save the vintage ones for their scrapbooking/scrap books.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
