@esmerelda I can't see why it would be disappointing.  Ultimately the company and the pilot are liable no matter what arrangement the pilot had with the company.

Re: Wrongful death suit...really?

Maybe it has nothing to do with Mrs. Bryant but rather the families of the other occupants of the helicopter. Mrs. Heinz (now Mrs. Kerry) sued when her husband was killed, it's not always about the money.

Her grief for the loss of her daughter and husband will be life-long, as will the grief and loss of the other families involved in the crash.

If the pilot and/or the company is at fault they should be held responsible and possibly save other potential passengers from a similar fate.

I wonder if this will also help shield the Bryant assets from the other victim's families suing them trying to blame Kobe for hiring the company?  Just thinking out loud here.

Re: Wrongful death suit...really?

I feel this is a case of pilot error, like the Jfk, Jr. plane crash. They had no business flying in those dangerous foggy/hazy conditions, but unfortunately in our fast-paced lives trying to get somewhere quickly people don't always make the wisest decisions. Am sure Kobe's pilot was under pressure to get there on time and thought he could navigate the thick fog.

@wishmoon  ..... Theresa (Heinz) Kerry settled for $15 million out of court. At the time of her lawsuit the National Transportation Safety Board had determined both pilots at fault. As of now the Safety Board has not determined the cause of the Bryant crash.

I just think you should wait until the investigation is finished and they file on record the cause of the crash before filing a lawsuit.

Re: Wrongful death suit...really?

I read that it was the type of fuel the pilot used which was the wrong type and when he saw there was engine trouble, he tried to turn back but didn't make it.

So it all could have been prevented. So tragic and I don't blame anyone for suing in this situation yes to hold anyone responsible accountable, a d in hopes that it will not happen so tragically again.

@RoughDraft  Money has to change hands before people can learn anything from the tragedy?

NO AMOUNT of money will bring back a single life lost in that crash.

By that reckoning, @esmerelda, no one should ever be able to sue for injuries or death.

And honestly, I don't know how Kobe and Gigi would answer that question. No one does. It's just a possible that they would want her to do so as it is that they wouldn't.

I do not fault her for suing.  If I were in her position, I would do the same.

She's wealthy, but that shouldn't preclude her from rightfully suing.

Suing isn't only for people who have modest or limited incomes.   That's not how it works.
