Just finished watching American Idol.....switched over to see what was going on with the Q....hadn't tuned in for more than 2 minutes, and Jane was talking about how much money her father gave her for her birthdays.....oops.....time to watch the local news.....does anyone want to know how much money my father gave me for my birthdays.....I think not.....

I do cause I always got the match to the year of age I was at the time...what did u get?

I was 30 when my mom died and dad was in charge of birthday gifts.....it was $50 until 2000 when he passed away.....i used to tease him about inflation...miss them both....

Ok. I'm 55 and my brother is 66. A couple of years ago---as a joke-----he sent me a birthday card with $2 in it. The note said "happy birthday! Go buy yourself something real nice." Made me laugh.

So...maybe Jane was just remembering a nice memory about her father.  And she gave you something to post about that triggered a nice memory for you and some others, too.

 

I can think of worse things.

You heard a snippet of the story and it was out of context.  Perhaps it was a sweet story about family.

I seldom received birthday gifts from my parents. In the past five years they did give me two gifts of money and it was a generous amount, and much appreciated. When I was young they might give me a belt or some other small thing, but I have no recollection of major gift giving. I just accepted it. They are well situated so they could have, but they didn't.
