Saw this on the news today, and heard they raised $65,000. I'd say that isn't dumb, but really smart on the part of the troop. 

 

I think it's great that they did something like that.


It's wonderful that a large amount was raised, but it reminded me of the office fund raisings that parents bring in to their 'captive employees'.

 

I personally would not do that to my co workers. I thought it was a little nervey on his part.


I agree that I never did this to my coworkers either, but these people have way more discretionary income than any place I ever worked, and I think it was great that the troop could raise such great funds, free advertising for the Girl Scouts, and more of a 'feel good' moment than a lot of what apparently went on during the evening.

I don't usually click with his brand of humor.  At any rate, I think he could have made his point more succinctly without using every breath of his for 3* hours on the issue.  IMO it did take away from those who have earned their awards.
