Was just scrolling through the channels and saw Paul Dean. I didn't even recognize her until she started talking. Not a huge fan of hers but I must say she's looking really good. Lost a lot of weight, good for her.

Having recently been given a similar diagnosos (Type 2 Diabetes), you sit back and realize, I have to change.  Right now, I'm not on any medications; dr. agreed to lay off for 3 months until the next A1C test.  However, when you get the diagnosis, it hits you, especially in your 60's.  You want to be there for your grand children.

Since my diagnosis I've lost 15 lbs, watch what I eat much closer than before.  I go back for the A1C testing in December, so I have the Holidays to go thru.

I've cut out sweets, white bread, unnecessary fats, diet soda, any alcohol and just read labels like crazy.

She does look good. That being said, when she was on DWTS, she was really over bearing and loud mouthed. That was not a part of her good look, IMO.

Hi Helen,

You and I are in the exact same boat.  I would be interested in conversing more about it with you.....possibly on the health boards. Let me know if you are interested. I've got lots to learn about diabetes......unfortunately!

I see Luvdoodles called Paula "Paul."

A couple other posters have done this as well.

Just a suggestion, consuming lots of cinnamon is very good for lowering blood sugar levels. I take 3 cinnamon caps a day. I use the True Ceylon Cinnamon.

Thanks for that info, Shelbelle!  I didn't know about that.  I just had a birthday a couple of days ago and have been eating gourmet ice cream and cake - I keep thinking I'm going to turn up diabetic if I'm not careful.

I shall search for these cinnamon caps.  Is it easy to find the ones that are true Ceylon Cinnamon?  I know that's what I buy, for cooking, at Penzey's, because cassis is not a good choice for me.  But I've never shopped for the capsules.
