If people really knew how dirty and disgusting most restaurant kitchens are they'd never go out to eat. I think most people just don't want to know.

I know someone who's a steamfitter. I have no idea what he actually does - but his clients are mainly restaurants.
He's said that if we saw what the kitchen faciltes of most restaurants,we'd never eat out.

All of the restaurants posted in that report are in my area. Most seem to be in Hershey, A few in Harrisburg and one in Middletown.
I am not a fan of eating out. I'd rather cook at home.
My son is a HVAC Technician. He gets called to many restaurants to work on plumbing and heating. He has given me the lowdown on the gross things he sees. One of the more very expensive restaurants in the area is disgusting.
He said they stored 50 lb bags of potatoes on the floor in the basement under the restroom area. They had a toilet leak onto the potatoes and did not throw them out.
The inspectors never go down to check the basement area, but they should. Many food products are stored in unsanitary conditions in that area.
My parents owned a restaurant. I know that food safety is important and the busiest places are the biggest offenders along with places that employ any old body to cook.
One of our local sandwich and pizza shops has only two people working and they are busy. The food is excellent, but the guy who cooks also handles the register. Gross. He doesn't wear gloves and doesn't wash his hands between preparing food and handling money.
I have personally seen a lot of offenses in restaurants. Once at a dinner theatre, I saw a prime rib fall on a carpeted floor at the Buffet carving station. The guy just picked it up and placed it back on the table without a care.
Yep, I'd rather cook at home.

Most restaurants have failed inspections on record at some point.
Even hospital kitchens fail inspections.

My mother used to say that if you want to enjoy your food, never watch how it's been prepared. I'm sure everyone at some time has eaten in restaurants that are less than perfect but comparatively people ever have gotten sick from them.

While I do have a favorite restaurant, I haven't eaten out in several years. This was long before the universal illness hit. My guess is, with all the pressures put on, eat in restaurants since I have at out?
Not much goes into my mouth that doesn't pass my personal inspection. Right now to me that is enough.

Not all food inspections are made public. I wish they were required to put a notice online for all nationwide. I'd like to be able to look up the ratings before choosing a place to eat.

@CoffeeNut I once had a chef tell me Chinese restaurants were the filthiest of all restaurants but Japanese places were very clean.
In the line of work my father did, he had gone into many Chinese restaurants and said they were all filthy. He never ate Chinese food.
