Re: Would You Have Spoken Up?

What if there was a problem and the questioned passenger fell over onto your boss? So, it would be more than just the passenger being hurt.

Re: Would You Have Spoken Up?

I am overweight but easily fit into an airline seat. I have taken many flights with no problem but the last flights I had I ran into a seatbelt twice that did not fit. I carry my own seatbelt extension which worked like a charm. Funny, I never thought I would use it but I did on my last trip. I got mine on Amazon and it saved me the embarrassment of asking. Even if you are a little plump all the seat belts may or may not fit.

Re: Would You Have Spoken Up?

I've been in that situation and its embarrassing. I was one a size 26 and travelled for work and I often faked it with the seat belt. Until a very kind older gentleman passenger noticed and called the attendant over and in a whisper asked for an extension for me . And then he quietly suggested that I ask for the extension upon boarding or purchase my own. Which I eventually did.

I have no problem speaking to strangers. But I would not have gone to the extension idea right away as it might offend her. Would sound as if you think she's that fat when your boss said she was only ""plump"". I would have just suggested that she alert the flight attendant as there must be something wrong with the seat belt.

No, I usually MMOB. That is the flight attendant's job & what they get paid for.

She's plump and she can't secure her seatbelt and she's pretending she did. The woman knows she's fat. She's embarrassed and doesn't know that it's a very, very common situation and she has no reason to feel self consious. She just needs to experience the extension request once to see how routine it is. That will make all future flights safer and more comfortable for her. We aren't born knowing about such things, someone has to tell us.

Re: Would You Have Spoken Up?

Doubt I would have said anything but... would have been tempted to suggest the extension. I might hope for an opening to mention it but... more then likely would resist....knowing all the while she could become a flying object and take me or another flyer out.

Re: Would You Have Spoken Up?

why yes - someone without a seat belt could fly around the cabin and hurt not only themselves, but also someone else badly in turbulence. it's all about safety
