Well, I did today...

I went in for surgery today. Was told to be there by 2PM..

I thought that was a terrible time span from nothing after midnight, but I figured things might go well for the surgeon and he might be caught up sooner.

So I got there, they hooked me up, shot me up, and everything else. They then left the room and there I was.... 2-3,,,3-4,,,4-5....with that I rang the bell and ask, just what was going on..

"Well your doctor is running a bit behind today and it COULD be 45 more minutes..., I heard that 3 times....

Okay said I,,,, take everything out and off of me,,,I'm leaving..

Well these nurses suddenly came out of the shadows, mouths wide opened.

They tried their best to keep me there , heck they even offered me a Tylenol to calm me... Really??

Needless to say, I got dressed and down the hall I went..Asked for my Co-Pay back, 250.00 and away I went.

17 hours, no food or water and they still expected me to wait...that qouldn't have included the time it took for him to do the operation and then recovery time...That would have been just about 24 hours...with no IV bag, besides....

The doctor did phone around 7 this evening, apologizing and promised to re-schedule next with with a morning appointment...

I was shocked he phoned and because he did show some respect in doing so, I'd give him another chance. He is the best in what he does, but to me,,if your doctor doesn't respect you, he just isn't worth it,,

I think knocking him down a few pegs, might have been a good thing.

I am an RN,and I know there is no way at my hospital we would never have allowed that to happen. I'm just happy I wasn't diabetic, I'd probably be dead right now..
