I used to rely on customer reviews to help me in my decision process when considering an item. Lately, it seems that more and more reviews are totally bogus. I was considering a bracelet recently, but after 8 reviews it earned only 2 stars. Upon reading the reviews I learned that only 2 of the 8 actually purchased the bracelet. The others reviewed it based on the product description! Now today I was looking at a bracelet that earned 2 perfect reviews. One of those reviewers just placed the order before she wrote the review but already decided it was a 5-star item!
I think it would be helpful if "number ordered" could be shown for an item number. Then, if an item has 50 poor reviews but 50,000 sold, we could better determine the weight those reviews hold.
At HSN you can't review an item unless it has been purchased under your account and you can't review it until a week or so after ordering. If you try to submit an early review, you receive a message stating they want you to try the item first before you form your opinion. What a great concept!
