@Venezia I've never heard people saying that to strangers, not here at least. That is very weird.

Follow your bliss.
YOLO!
Fatuous expressions, I think, especially when said to a young person.
I think better choices would be:
Make you life count for something.
Leave the world better than you found it.
Become a person worthy of your own respect, and the respect of others.

Not sure if it's advice but
Time heals all wounds.
At least they aren't suffering any more.
They are in a better place.
People mean well when they say those things however they are not comforting to me. I would rather they say nothing.

My dad taught me how to drive. He said: "Just pull out there. No one is going to hit you."
Oh REALLY??!!![]()

When one door closes, another opens.

LOL. Gag me😜
The original quote is a little different. It was attributed to Alexander Graham Bell and does ring (pardon the pun) true for me.
“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
Decades ago my mother said something similar to me and she said it was something my father had always told her. Looking back over the years, it's made a lot of sense. And if those original doors had opened for me, things would definitely be different and perhaps not necessarily better.

Don't sweat the small stuff.
This is saying is just plain stupid.

Someone told my daughter all traffic signs were just suggestions!
No, that person did not teach her how to drive.

@Mindy D - The guy who wrote the book "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" went on to say "and it's all small stuff".
Well, no, it isn't all small stuff! I understand telling people not to fret over someone leaving the cap off the toothpaste or not shutting a light off.
But some things in life are important, so that whole idea is just fatuous. Makes a good sound bite, but that's all. (Oh and made the guy a bunch of money.)

@Goldengate8361 Wow...so you're saying if you don't agree with them they are not worthy of being given the respect of being heard. You seem like the kind of person that's only interested in discussing topics if everyone in the group is all of the same ilk therefore no real debate or new ideas ever enter the fold.
