How many are impaired driving with cell phones? Those people should get DUI's.

They now know that marijuana can cause psychosis and a number of other mental issues....how anyone could look at this as "recreational" is beyond me. If I want recreation, I will go for a hike or go camping....

And who specifically are "THEY?" The drug of choice is and always has been alcohol? Shall we go into all the effects of it? It's been legal forever. Liver cancer, heart disease, brain impairment, DT's, alcohol rage, black outs,  automobile accidents, inability to perform basic work demands, etc. etc. I'll take my chances with the MJ smoker over the alcoholic. I'm curious as to how this so called MJ psychosis manifests itself. Thoughts?

Are you okay with alcohol use? Because alcohol use causes the above, plus contributes to suicide, domestic battery and gun violence.

It may be too early, but I haven't seen any studies that link mj use to violence. Ok- maybe a few squabbles over the last Ring Ding....

Treat the same as working while drunk.  All this country needs is another substance for people to take then drive  under the influence, killing more innocent people.  Are we selling our souls for a little tax revenue?  I think so.  Making recreational mj legal is a really bad idea.

I completely disagree.

People have been smoking marijuana since time immemorial, whether it was legal or not.  Same with alcohol.

The difference now is, it's regulated.

Prohibition didn't work.

I live in a state where it has been legalized, and I haven't heard of or noticed any upswing in anything negative.

To answer the question:  How will companies cope?   Drug testing with companies has been going on for decades.

Oh, people will just...you know...”know it when they see it.” If they ever see anyone behaving strangely (i.e. outside their little box), the answer is..marijuana. (Like the answer is “aliens”).

If you don’t know and can’t prove (other than “they say”), blame it all on marijuana. American society is divided no differently on this issue than they are on many others. Being accurate isn’t really important either. You know what you know, and don’t confuse the issue with facts, right?

How did marijuana become demonized and is now considered “worse” than alcohol, when alcohol abuse is rampant and causes deaths every day in one way or another.

agree. I'd rather be around someone who has smoked over a drinker...anyday.

Re: Working while stoned: How will companies cope?

That statement is far too vague for me. It seems to me that it would depend on how much someone has smoked, or drank, that would make the determination. I don't think it would matter much to me (with the requirement that the person was relatively normal to begin with) if a person had a drink or a hit off a bong. It's when either is done in excess that it becomes problematic.

It's kind of funny to me considering my leaning on the topic, being no stranger to the herb, and the fact I voted for prop 64, that it's actually people who seem to be in favor of legalization that are the ones who constantly compare pot to other things like alcohol as though it's not possible to talk about it without saying "Well, y'know...there's worse stuff than pot." Why does that matter?

And as far as who "they" are from those who are questioning the poster about psychosis it's no secret that many studies find correlation between pot and the risk of psychosis. So instead of asking who they are, why not do a little research of your own and you'll know who "they" are? It's far too complicated to say it does, or doesn't, without a lot of research and let's face it, none of us are experts. I would say a casual user is probably not at risk but that doesn't rule out what the poster said "Can cause psychosis" is wrong so why jump all over her for her opinion?

And for those of you continue to try to insult others with the laughable Reefer Madness garbage, why is it that people can't have their own opinions without you throwing something so childish in their face? It's the very reason this thread became a laughing stock a couple days ago.
