Last weekend I spent a few hours online checking out Labor Day weekend mattress sales. I didn't buy anything.

This week I received 13 mattress ad postcards in the mail from both manufacturers and retail stores, including some I never looked at.

I did nothing but browse online: no forms filled in, nothing put into a shopping cart.

That's because the websites you visited used 'cookies', so they could track you, getting your email address, etc.

Download AdBlock+, it's free and can block ads, cookies, etc.

Cookies are nothing new. How did those websites go from cookies to my full name and address that fast?

****And print and snailmail those postcards. Is there some new USPS service where ads can be printed directly by the USPS so a business doesn't have to mail them?

Its like the commercial for the "duckduckgo" browser.......and how Google is watching and following whatever you do.....

Like the song they play during the commercial first introduced by the singer, "Sting"......

I use a similar service, free, called 'Startpage' dot com. Love it, it's all I use to do all searches!

Read about it on their site, it has a lot of built in securities.

I know if I put something in my cart at Amazon, I will be bombarded with ads for the same or similar item via email, texts, snail,ail. Even pop-up ads. Maddening.

@PickyPicky3    How could online retailers get your mailing address?  I do tons of online searches for various things including mattresses and I've never gotten a related mailed advertisement.
