He has a broken rib. He might not feel well enough to respond.

I will admit, I did not read through all of the pages, but have a thought. . . How about one of those Virtual Reality programs where your mind can skate, even if you aren't on the ice? Good luck.

He doesn't have to respond if he doesn't feel like it. It's painful to have a cracked rib. It might hurt him to set at a computer and type

He doesn't owe anyone an answer. He only asked for opinions. You have no idea what he feels like now. Just because he was able to post when he did, doesn't mean he feels like it now

John is one of the nicest people here, and he is not an attention seeker

John's not obligated to report back to us, and I actually hope he doesn't. He asked for, and received a variety of viewpoints. What he does with our contributions now and in the future is his business.

Maybe he didn't want to hear what we said to him...I understand that it is hard to give up anything that you live.

Appreciate everyone's comments/suggestions, and plain ole common sense replies.

I did not go skating the Friday after my Wednesday fall. Listened to what many wrote and that was a big factor in my decision. My speel over my many years here is "to use common sense", but when it comes to almost my whole life revolving around ice hockey and skating?

Hoping to use what I preach, but I am not yet ready to say I am hanging up my skates. I have been working on my balance in what is left of our home gym, and have talked with my good friend, the Spinal Surgeon, to see who he knows in Sports Medicine, that may be my best option to work on this specific balance issue.

My sis is a Master Tai Chi Instructor, but at this point I have not spoken to her. She is in her early 80's and teaches several classes per week to mostly the elderly working on their particular issues. Not sure if her classes would help with skating(she is the one that taught me how to skate), and she does understand it, but it has been more years for her off skates than myself.

Will be debating with myself whether to go skating tomorrow, probably up to the last minute, and it is close to a 1/2 hour drive to the rink. My rib of course is still quite painful and I am taking no pain killers, but "life is still very good to me", as is my very understanding wife, and furry family of course, they count also.

Was and am not trying to shun anyone, nor am I looking to attract anyone for any reason. I start very few threads and really wanted to see how many of you nice ladies, and @gardenman, had to say that would give me more "food for thought".

Thank you to everyone for positives to continue to try to skate, and also the same to those that honestly felt/feel I should "hang 'em up", and accept that life changes. I gotta go get on my treadmill and NuStep now to increase my cardio capacity.

Very Sincerely,
