I saw two reviews this morning ... both bad reviews ... distorted history and anti-Catholic viewpoint.

Headline of review in Washington Post: How ""Wolf Hall"" will entertain millions - and threaten to distort history in the process.""

FB was pretty negative about this on the PBS page.

I don't know any of the backstory, but I did watch it through and I did like it. I want to watch it again with the timeline post PBS has to help you with the events and keeping the characters straight.

I really enjoyed this; loved the actors and especially the man who played Thomas Cromwell. Glad that Henry really has red hair in this series and looks the part, at least to me. The hairdressing of the ladies looks pretty realistic of the times.

Need to check out a little more of the history; seemed a little different than what I've seen before. I liked the fact that it moved slow enough to gave me more of a chance to digest the material. Didn't realize Cromwell had lost all his family at one time, so sad!

I agree. I also enjoyed the sets and costumes and all the other visual aspects.

I've read the book so didn't find it hard to follow. I think it would be difficult otherwise, though.

PBS had an hour show last night that explained some of the history.

I am not at all familiar with the actor that plays Henry. You ladies seem to like him. I enjoyed Jonathan Rhys Meyer as Henry.

Better still Henry Cavill as Duke of Suffolk.

The views I saw on Facebook were pretty positive and also the Wall Street Journal gave it good reviews. Maybe we didn't look at the same page on F.B.

I found it a hard slog getting through the first episode. I'm a fan of historical novels and non-fiction history books. I thought I'd get right into this but it was not to be. I may give it one more try next week. I actually much preferred the PBS special about Henry VIII, Cromwell, et al.

The Duke of Suffolk made this old(er) lady's heart go pitter-patter.

I was looking forward to this show although I didn't like the book and put it down unfinished but I thought it was the sloooowest hour of tv I had seen in some time. Plus, my PBS station didn't code it correctly or something as the dvr missed the last 10 minutes--no great loss. I may try again next Sunday as the actors are great and the costumes and sets are beautiful.
