With Bosses like these, who needs Enemies

About six months ago I was laid off from a part-time job I had with a plastic surgeon. He sold the practice and now would not have as much space as before. I mostly worked with his receptionist and didn't interact with him too too much. We were cordial although I knew the receptionist couldn't stand him. Last week, the receptionist was hospitalized and for a few days and things were hectic. I was called in to replace her at least for the time being and I accepted. I have been there three days.

Oh. My. Goodness. No wonder the receptionist is in the hospital. I know I am a paid worker but I came in on short notice, faster than it would have taken to hire someone. I haven't been there for six months and I probably knew to do one-third of the work the receptionist did but this man expects me to be a mind-reader and have everything done yesterday. I tell him things 3 and 4 times and he acts surprised and gets mad at me for not letting him know something when I clearly told him. His receptionist knows all his passwords and usernames and such and gets angry when I cannot access things. I'm sorry if I don't happen to have her brain in my head. I am still trying to figure out all that is going on and he asked me something and I told him that I did not know and right in front of a patient he was like "Oh yeah, you don't know anything". I never talk back but god, I am tempted.

Today he went to see the receptionist at the hospital. Maybe it was to see how she was doing, but mostly it is to ask her all this information about his private accounts. She handles everrrrrything for him. He is truly like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (no pun intended)--he is so kind to the patients and an a hole to me. Everyone says to not take it personally and I really don't. He may be in the business of making people beautiful but I have a much better character than him. I have had cra p py bosses trust me, but I put things into context. One was a jay man who grew up in a rural area and suffered much during his childhood. But this doctor has a fortune that is 8 digits, is in good health and has great employees that help him out more than he deserves. Ugh, just had to vent. Thanks.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.
