I've seen it live on stage, children would not understand it, it's not the wizard of oz story. I'll probably watch it on Apple TV as it will be streaming in certain channels. i don't go to theatres anymore

I really don't think they will understand it. it's a story of howElphaba turned green and a story of Glenda and Elphaba growing up in school. It's not the Wizard of Oz story but a preface to Oz

Current box office projections indicate an opening weekend in the wide range of $67 million to $125 million, likely to beat its competition, Gladiator 2.
In any event it is likely to be a financial success during its initial theatrical run.

I am still trying to decide if I want to see it. I have seen ther show several times, and have tickets to see it again next summer. That said, I don't think that young kids will understand it or enjoy it if they aren't familiar with the Wizard of Oz. As the show progresses, you can see the tie-ins to the characters and story lines, and that is fun, but unless you know that history, it really won't make sense.
I see a lot of comments that sound just like my mother. She said that she knew I loved it, but even when I was singing songs from it, she just didn't hear anything that she would like, which is very true. She would have hated it.
I also don't see the need to make it in 2 parts and I am not a fan of Ariana Grande, so I am pretty sure I won't see it, but I have a friend who insists that we will! Cynthia Erivo is great, and I am sure will be a wonderful Elphaba. Actually, Ariana G will probably be fine, but, again, not seeing why this has to be two parts and a year apart since the whole thing has been filmed already.
