I recently had to have a plumber come out to declog my kitchen sink. I told him I don't put anything down the disposal I'm not supposed to, i.e. starchy food, stringy food, grease, etc. He told me the problem is not the disposal. It's the pipes. The disposal turns food to mush and some of it accumulates in the pipes and over time the pipes get clogged up. He said you shouldn't put any food down the disposal. So why have a diposal at all? Have any of you ever heard of this?
