Re: Why do you come on forums?

I love to read about my soap, GH and also the sports threads.  I feel like I really do have some friends on this board, even though we will never meet!

I do not need the snarky, snappy posts where some just need to post their ugliness for all to see

I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend, til death, your right to say it

Re: Why do you come on forums?

I come here for all of the useful information, recipes and tips about products and reviews. I would never want to be board police, if I'm not interested in a post, I don't read it. What I don't like are the posts that correct grammar or spelling. The mistakes are probably typos anyway, and the critics sound so smug.

Re: Why do you come on forums?

I have always found these boards to be a great source of information...I ask for advice about issues and products and try to give an opinion on products I have tried and liked or not liked. For instance, today I have been talking about humidifiers and hearing aids and asking a question about the flu.

I like the general chit chat and the support we give each other. I like it when people who have health or personal issues come back and let us know how they turn out. I try to do that, too.

Re: Why do you come on forums?

Ive watched for years but never participated until recently. I enjoy hearing about pros and cons of products and some current events. There is so much negativity in the news the Weather channel and this forum are my new best friends. I've discover TCM and wonderful old movies so I subscribed to it. It's fun to relive childhood days through other people's eyes. I love to play caption this photo and Yay or Nay. I love seeing other people's pets or talking about the cold from all over the USA and Canada. Too many reasons to post.

I love the Red Wings too! Wish they could get it together. We need a good team to cheer on in our dreary winter.

Re: Why do you come on forums?

  • I learn about a lot of things on these forums.  I like to talk about currents events, products, recipes, decor, and TV shows and movies.

I have been here a long time - at least 14 years.  It's a part of my daily routine

I agree w/ you about us correcting each other, no need for that. As long as we understand, I don't see a need. Cat Happy

Re: Why do you come on forums?

I like to check in every day and see what everyone is chatting about.  I've learned so much from the beauty, pet lovers, home, travel, and garden forums.  I truly appreciate the time you all take to post.  We have some very knowledgeable and generous folks here.  How lucky are we!

Yes I can Google things, but for me, I like knowing the experiences a "real person" has as well.

I also take comfort in knowing that folks who are sad, or going through tough times have a place they can come and find camaraderie and comfort.  Not everyone has a large network of friends and family to call on, myself included, and sometimes having an outlet, any outlet, helps ease sorrow.

Yes, sometimes things can get nasty, and while I wish it didn't happen, and I try to stay away from it, without a variety of opinions, we'd be a pretty boring bunch.
