Why are so many previous program hosts coming back?

[ Edited ]

Does anyone else find it odd that so many previous program hosts have come back to QVC to represent a product? It doesn't convince me to buy the product just because they are now the new ambassador for that brand.

In these tough times, if someone is getting to work, I wish them well.

I assume it's because they need a job.

It does not bother me.

I think that the vendors are willing th pay previous hosts well because they believe they will be able to sell more of their product. So possibly a win win if it works.

No training required.

They are familiar with all the Q crazy work hours.

They only have to sell one item, not 500.

It is a part-time paycheck, but probably still generous.

Even the jewelry buyers returned as vendors to take advantage of the huge Q market--Peyton and David were never hosts, but they have to sell now.

Easy money and no personal advertising dollars needed!

@PalmBeach

First ... Welcome!   Woman Happy

Second ... I think when vendors are looking for some sort of spokesperson, they think about who they know that has camera presence and could expertly handle the shows and whatnot at QVC.

For a host that doesn't want a 24/7 job, this is probably a good gig.

I think Jill Bauer is one host that has done well at this.

First  off, seems like most of them are way too young to totally retire with Medicare, SS, etc.  it's probably more economical for company to let them go...and then take them back more in a job-shop position.     lol!  It's like coming in the back door.  Many of the vendor jobs aren't full time, someone else pays their wages. QVC be off the hook there. Or they come back part time as a vendor on Q payroll.   The pay is less ,often without the bene's.  Who knows. As a reg. Hire host I am sure they had holiday pay, shift pay, retirement , medical , etc. ....as a vendor, not so much.  Just a thought. Kind of like here  win  Calif with the Police Or Fire Dept.    They retire full pay, full medical at 53 .  Then go back to work part time without the extra benefits. Or, go off to other ventures til they are ready to really retire.

there have been NUMEROUS former hosts that have come back as vendors or vendor reps. this has gone on for many years now. evidently they all parted ways with QVC on good terms.

Re: Why are so many previous program hosts coming back?

@PalmBeach  I agree with you.  While nothing new, I saw a previous QVC host last night, who once made and sold her (and her husband's) own jewelry on HSN/QVC years ago, (Judy Kroll), now selling Hairmax as a vendor presenter along with Shawn Killinger.   So very strange.  I think when this happens all credibility is lost on the product that they are selling.  In th past, QVC probably had contracts with these vendors in all categories, to appear with their own products.  Now, perhaps these vendors are either too costly or don't want to have any more "on air" contract time,or QVC is not paying for them to appear. Have you noticed that The Beekman Boys, Peter Thomas Roth, Philosophy,Sarah Happ, Wolfgang Puck, Sunday Riley, Isaac Mizrahi,(sadly) all have new presenters for their products, to name a few.  Even Martha Stewart has had others presenters of her behalf.
