I'm retired, so I don't even care.

I just hate having to change all my watches and clocks!    Only a few of them change automatically.

Some people say just an hour throws them off.

No wonder I had jet lag after flying through three time zones!  (To minimize jet lag, go to bed local time.)

I like DST better, but I do like the change. Having daylight later in the day means warm weather is on the way!  Smiley Happy

Re: Why I hate Daylight Savings time

I didn't mind the time change as much years ago when both times were more even at about six months apiece.  Now Daylight Time starts too early in the year and ends too late so the switch is too drastic.  It was more gradual years ago and easier to adjust.

Of course, I was a lot younger then too!😄

It was pitch black by 4:45.   It started getting dark at 3:30 and I thought it was just clouds and rain was coming in.  Every year I do the same thing, I get surprised when it gets dark in the afternoon.

That's daylight standard time. Add that the earth is at an sharper angle to the sun, and we have less daylight hours.

Daylight savings time is what we have from spring to fall and makes it seem like we have more hours of daylight though most of it is because of the more direct angle of our side of the earth to the sun.

My dog thinks it's bedtime when it starts to get dark. It always takes him a good month to adjust to daylight time in the fall.

If you work, you like standard time.  Extra sleep.  If you're retired, your happy with Daylight Saving..  You're ready  to go out.

Re: Why I hate Daylight Savings time

The time change either way doesn’t change the number of daylight hours in a day.

I still maintain that having KIDS walk to school in the AM in the dark is not safe. Without fall back it’s not sunrise until almost 9AM in some places.

We tried a no fall back experiment once in the 1970s and it was a huge failure. Studied also show standard time is better for human circadian rhythm.

I absolutely despise falling back to standard time and post about it every year. It's 6:00 PM. It feels like it's time for bed.

@gidgetgh THe more light I have in the day the more I accomplish and the better I feel.  These short dark days just make me want to curl up and mope.

I can get groceries just fine at 6 p.m. but when it's dark at 5 p.m., yeah not so much.  Gotta get it done at noon it seems.  Rush rush.  And what's to love about being in the house in the dark for hours and hours?
