I guess this company had a policy of asking its employees to speak ENGLISH while on the clock. How rude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then they got a whole lot of complaining by agitators, so they back down. The article I read was very confusing (Huffington Post) though.
I once worked in a hospital in a predominantly Polish immigrant area. They made a policy that employees must speak English, unless there was a patient who only spoke Polish. This was because other employees felt extremely uncomfortable when a foreign language was spoken in their presence. It does make one feel like you are being talked about, and does exclude you.
How rude that a business wants to conduct its BUSINESS in English.
