virginia and pennsylvania have now also declared states of emergency.

blizzard conditions likely on saturday and of course they are saying not to go out if you dont HAVE to, especially on saturday......and to make sure you have at least a weeks worth of food available.

I finally made it in.  Of course I have to get tagged by the tail end with an ice storm tomorrow night.  I hope that forecast changes.  I would rather have your 24" of snow!

The weather person on MSNBC just said the heaviest snow accumulation was going to be along the I81 corridor in the northern part of Virginia.   OMG that's right where I am!

May I ask about your husband?  Each time I see your name, I think about your difficult time.

No...wish we were for a few days...we have a 45 mile an hour wind and quite warm.

Lulu2,  Thank you so much for asking about my husband.  It is so kind of you and touches my heart.  Tom has been at the UVA transitional hospital now since 12/9.  ERlier this week he passed the total of 100 days in the hospital so now will now start to dip into the 60 lifetime reserve days Medicare gives you.  I think I said that he developed a serious lung infection whic has prevented him from continuing with the chemo for the brain cancer.  He has been on antibiotics for 7 weeks to try to clear the lung infection with no improvement.  Last Thursday they took him over to the main hospital and inserted a drainage tube in his chest and are giving him medication to try to break up the infectious material in his lungs in the hopes that the infection will drain out.  Stuff is draining out but how much it will clear will not be known until they do another CT scan the end of next week.  The infection has to be cleared before he can resume chemo as this chemo treatment is so toxic it would cause the infection to run rampant if it is not cleared.  This attempt to drain the infection is the final option.  If it doesn't work some difficult choices must be made.  

I am leaving here early tomorrow morning so I can be home before the snow starts.  Hopefully the roads will be cleared for me to drive back to Charlottesville Monday morning.

I'm in metro Atlanta, just north of the city, and they're now calling for snow and ice for us.   Just a few inches of snow possibly,  which we don't handle well, but the dreaded ice which no one handles well. 

I did our grocery shopping this morning and we have firewood and flameless and regular candles and plenty of batteries and two 3.5 inch digital tv's that run on AA batteries.   I have my external battery thing charging now that will charge up my phone if I need it. 

I have movers scheduled for Saturday afternoon to pick up furniture at my parents house and bring half to my sister and half to us. Somehow I think that won't be happening as scheduled.
