Oh my goodness! There's another active thread, as of this writing, about the SAE apology. Clearly he apologized & is asking for our forgiveness. Funny thing...several posters of this thread, which proclaim they forgive in every day life, are the same posters that are not forgiving this young man of his wrongdoings.

We couldn't have timed these two threads better!!! And yes, I'm quoted on that thread where we need to forgive the SAE student. Anger is just Emotional Gravity. Don't need it.

I stand by my comment about issuing an apology because he was caught...NOT because he is TRULY trying to atone...

Since he is NOT a part of my everyday life, I don't foresee being drug down because I don't believe him..

I forgive him because he asked. He is oung and immature and he has a long life. If he is insincere that will be revealeved.(sic)

I think it's okay to hang on to a little of the anger, so you don't allow the person to hurt you again.

Maya Angelou once said that when she forgave someone, she wasn't saying they didn't hurt her or the issue was meaningless. But, by forgiving, you are saying it isn't worth it anymore to have you affect my life. Lift the weight, give it back. I'm finished with you.

Such good advice.

Time...it takes time. With time you can forgive anyone anything. And forgiving does not mean you invite that person back into your life with open arms. It means you are free from the bad feelings related to that person.

Ok..

I think COLLEGE age is old enough to know better...

In these cases, it is not a matter of forgiveness to/from me...

I am indifferent...This man is NOT "in my life"...

Yep. Living & learning. But there's that saying about resentment being like acid in a cup.......it eats away at the cup holding it.

Thank you. I speak from personal experience. My husband cheated on me and I thought I could not or would ever forgive him but I have. It has taken 20 years but I am at peace with him and wish him only the best in life.
