Re: Who else is in the path of the blizzard?

Yea, I checked last night before I went to sleep and it was already snowing. The snow drift in the drive way is up to the top of my car bumper and my husband had go around the side gate to shovel the back door because we couldn't get it open. I think we may have gotten only about 5-6 inches of snow so far at our house, I'm not sure. I didn't go outside to check. The wind is hard but not the really bad gusts we had last night. At least we still have power and heat.

I saw on the news website that about 10k people have no power in and around Clovis.

Re: Who else is in the path of the blizzard?

We just took the dog out for a walk around our Albuquerque neighborhood.  The truck got out of the driveway, then went right back into the garage.  No driving today.  Cars are abandoned all over our neighborhood.  We're very hilly here so those who aren't busy shoveling are out with skis and sleds.

Re: Who else is in the path of the blizzard?

We lucked out. We are getting sleet now after all the rain. Sleet is so much better then the freezing rain they said we would get. At least with the sleet & 6-8" snow we are suppose to get tonight into tomorrow. We should not lose power since we are not getting ice. Suppose to end up with 3-5"+ sleet & 6-8" snow. We had rain with wind over 30 mph with gusts around 50 mph last night that changed over to snow & sleet.

Re: Who else is in the path of the blizzard?

Thank God we just have howling winds and blowing snow. No sleet or ice .

Ice causes trouble with electric lines. Roads and paths to mailbox are slick as snot, etc.

I moved from Ind to Tx to get away from this s--t but at least down here doesn't hang around as long as it did up there. I remember one time the north side of my house was a sheet of ice for one month. Husband fell down and threw his hip out when we figured we best be moving. LOL

Seems we can't find the perfect place............

Well it's dumping snow now. I guess it's just wait and see how much we get.

@share   When I first moved to West Texas,  I worked with a woman who was born and raised in Amarillo.   She had photos of 10ft snow drifts in their backyard.   You should have checked the past weather history before moving there.

Re: Who else is in the path of the blizzard?

Yep, should had studied up on it more. LOL

Main things that bother me are the blowing dirt as the result of to little rain and the howling winds that keep you from being able to enjoy anything. Pretty much concrete and rock boulders are your main decoration.

On the plus side it's nice coming out of church on a Jan. morning and seeing the blue sky as opposed to the long dark dreary winters of Ind.

Everything is a trade off. As Mel Tillis sings "ain't no big rock candy mountain where you feel good all the time". LIke that low humidity down here, also. Breathe better and keeps your hair from flopping flat and curly.

If anybody is living where it's perfect and never any inconveinance step up now or forever hold your peace. LOL

Re: Who else is in the path of the blizzard?

Definitely not raising my hand for perfection.  We've had over 5 inches of rain this past week with more on the way!  Born and raised here in metro ATL with our Georgia "four seasons (almost summer, summer, still summer and Christmas)" but it's all I've ever known or will know.  It's home no matter what the weather may bring!  God bless, Sharke, and all who have come through the storm!  Sarcasm not needed as we try to lift one another up in times of need.

I'm not short...I'm fun size!
