We voted.

DH is involved in a hotly contested local election involving town council and $40 million dollar water plant ,that cannot be voted for or against once it is built. The corruption in our southern county and state reps has all the Yankee's dander up and we are voting the good ole boys out if possible.

After this, we go after the state rep, who if he is smart , knows his days in office may be numbered.

It's the municipal (city) elections here where I live today.  I live in the county, so I can't vote.  The mayor has served for the past 12 years and is not running for re-election, so there will be a brand new mayor.  Hopefully, some new city council people as well...although I don't hold out hope. Our schools are closed on election days, since we use so many of the buildings a polling places.

It will be kind of nice to be able to watch TV without all of the campaign commercials.

Nope....it's a Civic Responsibility.

Civic duty is governed by the law...like paying taxes or serving in the military, if drafted.   If one chooses not to vote, like myself, it's not a lawful offense.

I mailed mine in two weeks ago, but unfortunately the political phone calls keep coming. The weirdest one was the woman who called me three times even after I told her I had already voted. Her first call was for someone who doesn't live here. Her second call was to find out if I would consider her candidate, but I had already voted. Her third call was to tell me some dirt on the person I had already voted for.  As I said....WEIRD!

YES     yes.

The screen was jumping around too many times, today, so if there is a heart to the -*one*- that was hearted/spooked

This is not a political thread!  It's a "are you doing this activity" thread. Just asking who is voting today?  Or, have you voted already absentee for today's election?

I'm going to vote in a while. I enjoy going to the polls, voting in person (rather absentee) and seeing my neighbors.  We have some important local races and one esp. important issue on the ballot.  I have voted in almost every election - general, primary, and special, since I turned 21, which was the age I had to be to vote when I first started voting.  I'm one of those people who thinks it's a civic duty, and if a person doesn't vote, she/he doesn't later have the right to complain about the serving politicians.  So....I'll be voting soon.   I'll probably dig out something patriotic to wear from old Quacker Factory clothes, put on my "VOTE" pin and earrings (the pollworkers always  enjoy this) and go.

It only takes a few minutes to do.

, it's  mine. I was scrolling down when the screen flipped upward and my finger hit it accidentally.

This has happened more than just a few times. Maybe the mod person on job duty could omit this for me?!

If not, most will know I tell the truth, if not...so be IT!

Thank you.

I put my ballot in the mail early Fri a.m. & got the email confirmation that it was received Mon a.m.  They've made it so easy now that there's no excuse not to vote.  I'm really happy about not having to stand in line anymore, especially for that big one that occurs every Leap Year.

I have never missed an election since I was old enough to vote. My region is one of those that is being considered for fracking. We locals don't want it so it's important to come out for these off year elections where the candidates against fracking are voted in. It has worked well for us over the past several years.

We now go to churches not the elementary schools any longer. I'm sure it's for the children's safety, let alone not to mess up their school days.

My polling place is a church - with an attached school!  I was there at 2:30 pm just before school got out.  It was a busy place...

If there is some voting going on in our County, I don't know about it. We pay all the City Taxes but since we don't live in the City Limits, we cannot vote for City Offices or Issues.

Don't seem right to me, but my attorney friend says it is as he also pays taxes and cannot vote.

Always thought that said something like: "No taxation without representation" or something like that. Anyways, it ain't true in our area.

John, we have that situation, too.  We can't vote for certain offices even though we pay taxes that pay their salaries.  When I saw the tax collector I told her that exact thing, that it was taxation without representation. She was stumped and had no comment.  I got the feeling as I walked away that that seldom happens for her.  Smiley LOL
