I saw cherries go from $2.99/lb. to $6.99/lb. and back to $2.99 within a week.  Same store.

@QueenDanceALot  I can't remember the last time I saw a "decent" price for cherries.  We just bypassed them the other day.    Right now they are hitting close to $7/lb. around here for organic and close to that for non-organic.

*sigh*  Love cherries, too.

I got 2 lbs. of organic ones at the $2,99 price and I felt like I'd struck gold!

Then I wondered if they were in the wrong bin, or they were the wrong cherries!

They sure were good, though.

Go to a farmers market,it is that time of year.

While I enjoy going to a Saturday farmer's market, the produce prices are oftentimes higher than the grocery store, and I always seem to come home with a pair of earrings from one of the crafts booths 😂😂😂

@CelticCrafter  One of our markets does sell single stalks of celery.  Sometimes it's cheaper, sometimes not.

At my local market the individual stalks are old looking:/

I feel kind of out of touch because I don't know how much it should be.   It doesn't sound like a lot to me, but what do I know.  hehe - I would just pick one that looks good and not much notice.  I hope it's good! Smiley Happy   I like celery, too, but I mostly buy it just when I'm making something with celery (such as in mirepoix) in the recipe.

Nice, cold celery!  yum   Smiley Very Happy

I agree.  THe HARD thing at the grocery store is to not buy stuff you don't need.  The biggest budget saver is plan your meals, think about what you want to eat, can use, what is good for you, what is on sale, etc.  If you eat everything you buy and don't toss it out, that's big bucks saved.

I read about all the cheap prices at Aldi's then hear about what besides food people bought, so I have to wonder, is Aldi's making the bucks off of the non-food items they sell more than the food?  Must be profitable.

Just sayin'.

I t.h.i.n.k everyone know that.

Just an example of what American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society and American Heart Association is serving up as 'good for you.'

A conventional stick of celery is & always will be better than KFC.

@sidsmom  I'm referring to the food industry as in farming-how our food is produced.   Not KFC et al.

Those companies are producing life damaging products because they are buying life damaging products to begin with.

The flip side of that is that if they did not use modern farming techniques, people really would be screaming about food costs.  If WalMart didn't import stuff from China, folks would pay a LOT of money for a hammer.

Business is driven by the consumer.  We have nobody to blame for these things but the American Public.  Business provides what people will buy.
