I can't decide which is worse, the fact that my grocery store is charging $2.98 for a bunch of regular (non-organic) celery or the fact that I paid that much for it.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

@Marp  I would pay for it.  I love celery.  LOL

Brace yourself because organic prices are beginning to soar even higher since organic farmers are being squeezed.  Fact.   Political, but a fact.

Edited:  I just noticed you said non-organic.  That seems steep but food varieties are dwindling.

See the film "Seed the Untold Story".  PBS has it.

But I digress.

The alternative is to grow your own and I can't begin to tell you how hard that is to do in central PA. LOL I don't mind spending the money for good quality produce, but so much of it is not so  good and you're right, it's expensive.

I paid $2.98 this morning and the stalks were thin in comparison to what they usually are.  We like celery so, oh well.

Ouch.  I would have bought it as it's against the law to not have chopped celery in tuna salad. 😏

I wrap mine in foil and it does keep it crisp longer.

My local grocer is charging $2.99 for an avocado, and people were actually buying them! I refuse. Nor would I spend that kind of money for celery. If people would stop paying those ridiculous prices, maybe prices would come down.

The alternative is not eating celery.  If you can afford it, go for it.  I read that the prices for all our CA grown produce are going to shoot through the roof, prices will be riculously high because the farmers don't have the Mexican labor that they depend on, much of their crops will rot on th vines this year because there's no one to pick it.  $3 for celery might just be a dream price in few months.

@Marp ~ Food is so expensive.  I've often wondered how families with a couple (or more) kids do it.  I see what we pay for groceries and it's just my husband and I.  I don't know if you have one near you, but I really like shopping at Aldi.  My mom and I just shopped there this morning ~ I got lots of good things, fresh fruit, etc for about $30.00.  It might be worth a visit.
