Some vegetables and fruits are sprayed heavily with neurotoxins.

It's not Fake News.

Celery is on that list as it's one of the Dirty Dozen again this year.  Strawberries is another, which I love.

If the price is too high on those I just don't buy.  I DO have a limit as to how much I will pay.

@QueenDanceALot  I'm with you about certain fruits/veggies that are not organic.

We also look for specials on frozen fruits and I always have frozen veggies on hand.

I can't decide which is worse, the fact that my grocery store is charging $2.98 for a bunch of regular (non-organic) celery or the fact that I paid that much for it.

I can overlook high prices sometimes, if the product is good.

But I've paid a high price for celery that's bitter.

Now that's annoying.

Naw.

I would be more worried about the feed animals eat.

I eat the grass they eat.  I process it quickly, but

with animals, it settles in their tissues & muscles for months/years.

Even the grass-fed-this-free-range-that-unicorn animals

eat crappy food...which lies-in-wait for someone to consume.

Me, too!  My freezer is stuffed with both right now.

I feel kind of out of touch because I don't know how much it should be.   It doesn't sound like a lot to me, but what do I know.  hehe - I would just pick one that looks good and not much notice.  I hope it's good! Smiley Happy   I like celery, too, but I mostly buy it just when I'm making something with celery (such as in mirepoix) in the recipe.

Nice, cold celery!  yum   Smiley Very Happy

Yaw, actually.

Is there a reason we can't be concerned about both?

Anyone who thinks our food industry is NOT CONTROLLED by powerful conglomerates better think again.

I have a family of 6 to feed; my teen boys go through food and leave NOTHING left but the bones/stems. My 11 year old is in a growing spurt so his appetite is huge. They're all lean and fit, so, I can't complain. I refuse to buy sugary foods so if they want something like that, it means we have to make it ourselves; amazing how fast they say "na, that's ok mom. I'll just have fruit".

Price wise...we're talking a few hundred each time I hit the store (which is almost once a week). I do my best to buy only what is in season and include the farmers market when I can but even their selection and prices are not great. Produce everywhere is pretty bad, come to think of it.
