I've been putting these in the Walmart grocery bag bins.   Wonder what they think about that?  Also, there are combo bubble/butcher paper mailers.  Totally stumped on those.

@depglass  I'm pretty sure the combo ones cannot be recycled.

I put the plastic ones in the garbage. The only ones I think might get recycled are the paper ones. They can be treated like boxes. Whether they are is another thing.

I suspect that almost everything we "recycle" ends up in a pile of trash. When more things got "recycled" they were actually being shipped to other countries. Anyone else remember the video and photos of the trash filled barges?

My local newspaper just had an article about the city's recycling costs that have increased to the point that they're considering not doing it anymore.  The prices for recycled goods has plummeted recently according to the article and it's costing the city more to recycle than the regular trash pickup that eventually ends up in the landfill.

They're looking at alternatives since they want to recycle, but just can't afford to continue the way it is now.

Our town is just the opposite. They are looking for ways to get more people to recycle.  We pay (in our taxes) by the weight for waste disposal. The more that is taken out of the tons of solid waste disposal, the less we pay in taxes.  More recycling, the start of a residential/business composting plan all helps to lower the bill and is better for the enviroment.

[ Edited ]

Some of the mailers and sheet bubble wrap I use for mailing purposes, holiday, birthday gifts, needs in my home, etc. If I have excess bubble wrap mailers with paper cover it goes in paper recycing pickup. I do not put plain bubble wrap packing sheets in recycle or garbage pickup.  Safeway takes plastic bags so I use Safeway for plain bubble wrap packing sheets.

@Rockycoast  We pay for it, too. But I'm pretty sure most of ours eventually ends up in a dump somewhere. If they don't/won't provide detailed information on the step by step process and give out vague answers it becomes suspicious. But a great way for them to make money conning people.

Re: Where do you recycle bubble plastic mailers?

I asked a question yesterday and was told that each recyclable pail is checked and what can not be recycled is taken out. Didn't ask what happens to them. They also said that some customers will put garbage in the recycle pail and that slows up the process because they have to do more sorting.
